Job Description

Overview:

Utilizing strong functional/technical area knowledge of and expertise with relevant systems/applications, the Finance Business Analyst defines, evaluates, and validates requirements, business functional design, and technical design for complex business issues within their domain areas.

This person will work to provide service and support around system and reporting requirements. This includes assisting with utilizing and implementing ERP system solutions, developing key reporting and analysis, and improving internal processes across the organization.

Responsibilities:

System administration and development

  • Provide support and help administer the operational Finance system/application, and monitor and deliver on any procedural issues from the Finance system/application.
  • Use judgment and initiative to review, analyze and develop solutions for business systems while identifying and quantifying the business impact of those solutions.
  • Provide systems analysis expertise, and regularly considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment
  • Assist with maintenance and improvements to current Finance system/application, including responding to queries from both internal and external stakeholders and developing solutions to areas where system is exposed
  • Assist with implementing and testing any new Finance systems or processes, including full implementations as needed
  • Assist with Administration of Financial system/application
  • Assist Finance ERP Super Users to enhance overall team performance
  • Coordinate openly and competently with IT division and ensure systems meet standard requirements as set, and collaborates wherever possible
  • Monitor configuration for accuracy and compliance to change control processes

Financial planning and analysis

  • Provide strategic financial analysis and planning support at all levels of the organization, across multiple countries and jurisdictions
  • Assist with development of budget and forecasting tools and processes, and providing necessary education to all staff domestically and internationally
  • Develop reporting and analysis solutions for communicating key financial information to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate system development in pace with organizational requirements, covering technical to reporting to training needs, with independent capability
  • Ensure efficiency of reporting and availability of data tools for supported business area use and for trend analysis.
  • Assist with key projects for the Finance team, requiring that the individual:
    • Determines strategic relevance and priority for the organization
    • Secures buy-in from all internal stakeholders, and ensuring consistent with external stakeholder requirements
    • Properly maps out process and works to deadline
    • Own final product or educates necessary internal partner to pass on control
  • Train/coach others on appropriate process
  • Provide support to grant management division as direct Finance intermediary, with reporting and planning as necessary in a collaborative environment
  • Identify areas for improvement to meet best business practices and exceed industry standards where feasible
  • Work with regional and functional teams across multiple countries to develop systems, reporting, and financial solutions that are effective at both a local and global level
Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or related Business field, with 3 years’ functional experience outside of public practice
  • If no degree, 8 years’ experience in relevant business function developing significant technical skills with associated applications/systems
  • Direct experience with automated tools to perform analysis and reporting is required
  • Some project coordination experience is required
  • Experience with system implementations, integrations and/or administration
  • Experience with financial analysis and reporting, and development of budgets and performance measurement indicators

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with non-profit organizations, or at least international development organizations
  • Experience with international operations, preferably in developing countries
  • History of successfully delivering business change and system improvement projects
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to interpret and present quantitative data
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills that include workgroup leadership and/or problem resolution across multiple groups
  • Project management skills
  • Focus on proactive and creative solutions to meet current and future business needs

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including navigating cross-cultural relationships
