Job Description

The Gender technical advisor will be responsible for overseeing the eHIS Activity gender analysis for identifying barriers and gaps for women and youth. It will be delivered within the first 9 months of the project with recommendations to mitigate the identified gaps and barriers.

  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and oversight, especially for conducting eHIS specific gender analysis at the beginning of the activity implementation and develop a clear strategy to address identified issues.
  • Ability to promoting gender equality and advancing the status of women and girls is vital to achieving USAID development objectives.
  • Responsible for designing the interventions for addressing gender issues in the eHIS Activity by conducting the gender analysis and identifying relevant gender gaps in the status and anticipated levels of participation of women and men that could hinder the key results to be achieved by the activity, as defined in the Activity Purpose,
  • Ability to identify key gender inequalities or needs for female empowerment that could be addressed through the activity, and
  • Any potential differential effects (including unintended or negative consequences) on women and men.
  • Ability to integrate gender considerations into programming;
  • Should be able to demonstrate an inclusive and gendered approach to development.


  • Master’s Degree in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Global Health and Sociology, Anthropology, Social Psychology.
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience
  • Demonstrable expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies proven ability to write strategic development policy documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with HQ program staff.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English required.
