Job Description

The Global Health Solutions – University Outreach Fellow will be part of the larger Global Health Solutions Data and Innovation team with a focus on university outreach and will play an essential role in the team’s building of a data visualization website. The University Outreach Fellow will have a number of responsibilities within the Global Health Solutions team and the Fellow will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task between various projects. The general responsibilities include but are not limited to:

University Outreach and Relationship Management

  • Managing U.S. and international university relations and outreach for experts and emerging leaders in Global Health
  • Communicating regularly with university academic, administrative and student contacts including keeping them engaged and informed
  • Coordinating between universities and data visualization specialists regarding trainings
  • Coordinating between international and US based universities
  • Growing in the number and strength of University partners, and non-university private sector partners, including the ability to represent QED in these discussions

Growth in Website Users and Contributors

  • Contributing to the growth in the number of website contributors and users
  • Coordination with university marketing and social media departments
  • Coordinating with the QED communications and marketing team
  • Organizing and managing special events and activities
  • Contributing to thought leadership including authoring white papers, studies, contributing to website content, articles, and social media

Building an Innovation Environment

  • Promoting an innovative culture, including managing and organizing activities
  • Researching relevant topics on innovation in international development
  • Leading and supporting innovation campaigns

Business Development

  • Assisting with discovery and tracking of new business opportunities
  • Assisting with research, writing, and creation of business development proposal.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in international development, public health, data visualization, marketing, journalism, economics, business administration, or related field
  • In certain exceptional cases, a Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years direct relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team and as an individual
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments at one time
  • Experience in Tableau or data visualization preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in international development

About the Organization

QED’s Fellowship program is a year-long, full-time commitment designed to provide recent graduates with an opportunity to make significant contributions to work in international development, and develop and improve business skills in communication, technology, quantitative reasoning, and teamwork. Fellows will be able to observe and participate in business operations and decision-making, meet professional role models and potential mentors who can provide guidance, feedback, and support. Fellows will also be required to participate in business development and thought leadership, ending their program with a final technical report or capstone project.

QED’s Fellowship experience is valuable to recent graduates as a means of allowing them to experience how their studies are applied, and as work experience that can be highly attractive to potential employers.
