Job Description

Part of a core team of specialists, responsible for sustaining the continued growth and positioning of RTI’s governance practice area with a focus on decentralization, PFM, social accountability, public service delivery, civil society strengthening. Support project and proposal work, ensuring efficient management and quality of work products while working collaboratively with other governance and economic development and operational staff. Conduct research and performs technical assistance and development in technical area.
Essential Duties
  • Write technical proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest for governance opportunities
  • Conduct capture, partner identification and development and other business development activities for governance opportunities
  • Conduct technical assistance for governance projects, including field-based short-term technical assistance.
  • Contribute to the adaptation of existing technical approaches and tools in governance, as well as the creation of new tools
  • Stay abreast of USAID HQ and mission trends around governance programming
  • Develop technical articles, papers, reports as well as conduct presentations, seminars and workshops on governance topics
  • May perform project manager role for existing or new governance projects

Minimum Required Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in political science, public administration or related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Experience working in the international development governance sector (Preferred expertise on public financial management, domestic resource mobilization, anti-corruption, applied political economy analysis, integrated governance across sectors, adaptive management, digital inclusion and media).
  • Experience performing business development roles, especially writing and/or leading governance bids
  • Experience with USAID or other key donors in the international development sector
  • Field experience working in developing countries (Africa and Asia experience preferred)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to travel internationally for extended periods as needed
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • English and foreign language skills required (French preferred)
