Palladium is bidding on a grant management and programme delivery contract for Power to Change, a UK based charitable trust whose vision is to support community businesses to revive local assets, protect the services people rely on and address local needs by providing grant funding and technical assistance. Power to Change offers grant funding to UK based community businesses where the work is furthering a charitable purpose, and is for public benefit.

P2C’s funding is channelled through the following workstreams:

  • Community Business Fund
  • Homes in Community Hands
  • Empowering Places
  • Research & Development

To receive grant funding from P2C, an organisation must meet the following criteria:

  • Locally rooted - the organisation is rooted in a particular geographical place and builds on the strengths and assets of that place to address community needs
  • Accountable to the local community - can be demonstrated in many ways (e.g. Membership structure, ownership, broad range of local trustees) but you must have evidence of regular community input into decision making
  • Trading for the benefit of the local community - a clear trading model and sell services in and around the local area. The way the business is run, and the profits it makes are used to deliver local benefit
  • Broad community impact - engage with a variety of different groups in their community and deliver impact against a range of different community needs.
  • Lead the design and set-up of the programme Grants and TA procurement system in line with Palladium central grants team and procedures;
  • Ensure that all aspects of grant management are fully compliant with UK Government codes of conduct and good practice;
    • Ensure and quality assure budget, due diligence, grants agreements and reporting
    • Undertake ad-hoc troubleshooting assistance to countries as required
  • Lead on the grant management process, ensuring high quality Terms of Reference and grant agreements;
  • Lead in establishing harmonised systems for reporting and documentation for partners, grantees and TA service providers; and facilitate procurement, grant & TA coordination and logistics;
  • Assist with the monitoring of grants and TA at contractual and programmatic levels, working alongside the programme technical, MEL and communications and outreach teams;
  • Monitor project expenditures, prepare budget analytic documents and expenditure forecasts, amendments, assist in the preparation of financial reports, provide the interface for project internal and external audits;
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, finance, accounting or other relevant field;
  • Be willing to be based in Bristol full time
  • Extensive experience in grants management, including system design and set-up;
  • Experience in facilitating grants across a range of stakeholders and in supporting grantees to ensure compliance with grant processes;
  • Highly organised with an ability to work flexibly, and to report against tight deadlines and deliverable requirements whilst maintaining consistently high standards and attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective at building relationships and trust across a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary team;
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. The ability to communicate in a succinct and clear way is critical.
