Job Description

Our vision is a world where every child can grow up in a permanent, safe and caring family.

Family for Every Child is a global Alliance of local civil society organisations working together to improve the lives of vulnerable children around the world. We work to achieve this vision by enabling our global network of national civil society organisations to share their knowledge and practice and to become actors to achieve changes for children and families not just nationally but regionally and internationally.

Vital to our success is the vibrancy and dynamism of our Alliance. We are looking for someone to lead this aspect of our work. The role needs someone who understands what makes a network active and effective. Someone who appreciates how to support and strengthen purposeful collaboration, who knows how to create opportunities for making connections and foster new relationships built on trust and common goals. Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Alliance Development has overall responsibility for the design, development, delivery and continuous improvement of our member activities and programmes, bringing the Alliance alive as a forum for knowledge exchange and ideas stimulation, creating energy and a sense of action within our Alliance.

The new Head of Alliance Development will have high-level experience of working across international networks and a strategic eye for ways to build collaboration and common ground between disparate civil society organisations and make them as effective as possible. They will ideally have deep sector knowledge with previous experience within a range of core areas of expertise related to child rights and the care and protection of children across a range of different contexts. With experience in senior leadership, they will be a facilitative and consultative leader who enables others to tolerate ambiguities and be as effective as possible, particularly with colleagues and members spread across multiple locations globally.

The position is home based within the country of residence of the candidate. Due to time zone and legal employment compliance ideally this will be in the US (Eastern states), Chile, Kenya, South Africa, India, the Middle East region or the UK. Candidates will have to ensure they have the legal right to work within the county they are based. Family for Every Child does not support applications for working visas and there is no relocation support. If the cost or mechanism of ensuring legitimate employment within the candidate’s country of residence proves prohibitive, Family for Every Child reserves the right to withdraw the application from the selection process.

The compensation for the role is competitive.
