We have an outstanding opportunity for a Head of Climate Change in our Economic, Youth and Sustainable Development Directorate.
The post holder will lead the Secretariat’s work on climate change. In particular, she/he will be responsible for providing technical, policy and programming implementation support, oversight and capacity development services pertaining to climate change. Responsibilities include: leading the conceptualisation, design and development of policies and programmes to implement the Secretariat’s mandate on climate change and build the resilience of small states and vulnerable states in line with the Strategic Plan; providing professional inputs and advice on climate finance, based on an understanding of the political economy dynamics of climate financing and practical challenges related to access by small and vulnerable member states; and supporting high-level commonwealth dialogues on issues related to climate change and climate financing.
To be considered, you will need to have a post graduate degree in Environmental Policy, Sustainable Development, Climate Policy and a minimum of 10 years’ experience, including at senior management level, directing a team of professionals, in a governmental or in an inter-governmental organisation or a Non-Governmental Organisation. Expertise in the alignment of national planning and climate change, sustainable development and the green economy, and extensive experience of working in/on developing countries are also key requirements.
