TechnoServe is seeking an international human resource expert who can work with Ethiopian human resource experts to work with Ethiopian human resource Experts and develop a consulting market to support medium and large manufacturing firms with the aim of developing right fit performance management system and incentive packages for the manufacturing firms, leading to increased factory performance and retention of workers.
Livelihood Improvement for Women and Youth (LIWAY) is a pioneering poverty reduction program that aims to improve the incomes of 200,000 women and youth in greater Addis Ababa. It is doing so through a market facilitation approach, sustainable improving the functioning of systems in which poor women and young people can engage more productively.
In LIWAY, TechnoServe focuses on addressing constraints to growth in Addis Ababa’s medium and large manufacturing sector, which is a significant employer of LIWAY’s target beneficiaries, poor women and youth. To address Human Resource challenges and practices of “growth sector” firms, TechnoServe is supporting the development of a firm-level employee performance management system to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Human resource consulting services for the manufacturing sector is an untapped business opportunity, considering Ethiopia’s manufacturing sector has registered significant progress in the last decades. TechnoServe seeks an international consultant to engage Ethiopian manufacturing firms and human resource professionals (local individual consultants and firms) over an eight-month period. During this time, the consultant will develop an effective and marketable performance management system that will be tailored to each firm based on the motivational tools which will be based on identified challenges in the manufacturing sector, in collaboration with the local human resource consultants, who will be identified and selected by TechnoServe (details below). The aim of the performance management system is to increase employee motivation and job satisfaction to improve production efficiency and reduce turnover which will improve the livelihoods of women and youths participate in the intervention.

This assignment requires critical thinkers with strong analytical and communication skills who have the experience and confidence to solve a diverse set of HR challenges, but at the same time understand contextual constraints and opportunities.
