Where you come in:
In this full-time permanent role based in our Carlton head office, you will play a central role in both the humanitarian team and the broader organisation. You will oversee the management of the humanitarian portfolio and ensure programs are developed to pursue evidence and excellence, positioning our organisation as the leader on humanitarian response. Reporting to the Deputy Humanitarian Director, you will manage a small team of two direct reports.
You will make an impact by:
* Overseeing the delivery of a $13 million humanitarian portfolio and being responsible for the spend against program budgets
* Monitoring and evaluating programs, providing an evidence base to inform advocacy
* Enabling and supporting the Pacific Country Offices with relevant expertise (from within the team) on emergency preparedness and response
* Delivering high quality reporting and communications to support humanitarian communications and media
If we could compose the perfect you…
… You’re highly organised and results-oriented, with an excellent understanding of the challenges currently facing the humanitarian sector. Ideally, you’ve spent time in the field in emergency response, and are comfortable in both a corporate environment and in a field office. You’re willing to be flexible and accommodating in difficult working circumstances. Your interpersonal and relationship building skills are excellent and you are adept at communications and reporting, both verbal and written.
This role requires:
* Significant experience in project management and administration, including budget management
* Proven ability to manage a team (including remotely) that delivers results
* Identification and management of organisational and operational risks
* Excellent knowledge of emerging policy issues within humanitarian work
* Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
