Project Overview:
Impact Malaria (IM) is the global project under the US President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) providing implementation support and technical assistance to countries for malaria service delivery in health facility and community settings. Working with national governments and PMI, IM will identify efficiencies and standardize best practices in the scale up of malaria case management, the control of malaria in pregnancy (MIP), and the introduction of other malaria drug-based approaches. These efforts significantly contribute to PMI’s goal of reducing malaria mortality and morbidity, and efficiently and effectively moving countries forward along the malaria elimination spectrum, as described under the PMI 2015-2020 strategy.
Population Services International (PSI) is implementing IM, supported by sub-partners Jhpiego, University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and Medical Care Development International (MCD Global Health). MCD Global Health’s role is to strengthen malaria diagnostics at different levels of the health system in 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
