Partnerships Unit Intern – UN Department of Global Communications
Work Location
Flexible. This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person but can be adjusted based on the needs of the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Partnerships Unit is the marketing, promotion, and distribution office for the products and services produced by the News and Media Division (NMD). This includes:
- Placement of UN multimedia products on various media platforms and other outlets (traditional and non-traditional)
- Production and dissemination of promotional materials for NMD products and services
- Presence at high-level events, conferences, local and international media markets
- Creation of analytical and statistical reports on usage of NMD products
This internship is located in the Partnerships Unit, Digital and Promotion Branch (DPB), NMD, Department of Global Communications (DGC). The Intern reports to the Chief of the Unit and will:
- Work in a team-oriented environment to conduct research on marketing and promotion of UN multimedia products and services
- Contribute ideas and assist in implementing action plans for various projects
- Identify and contact potential media outlet clients for UN multimedia content to secure partnerships
- Research and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships to expand UN media product audiences
- Analyze data analytics to produce marketing and promotion strategy recommendations
- Research and apply predictive/generative AI tools where appropriate
- Assist in preparing for special events, including organizing promotional materials
- Research, analyze, and report on assigned topics/issues
- Draft letters and emails, compile promotional kits, and support communications tasks
Qualifications/Special Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
- Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Additional qualifications:
- Computer literacy in standard software applications
- Strong interest in the UN’s mission and ideals
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and views

Technical Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and research tools is required
- Familiarity with AI tools is desirable
- Knowledge of HTML and presentation platforms is desirable
- Experience (paid or unpaid) in digital marketing, PR, communications, journalism, broadcast media, or related fields is desirable
- National or international experience is an asset
Languages
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable
Additional Information
- Interns are not financially remunerated by the UN
- Interns are responsible for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses
- Non-resident interns may need to obtain a visa and work authorization
