Job Description

Chemonics seeks a Knowledge Management & Communication (KMC) Manager to lead the KMC activities for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. This is a fantastic senior leadership opportunity responsible for meeting the communications needs of our HIV/AIDS, malaria, family planning and reproductive health, and maternal, newborn and child health clients, as well as the needs of internal stakeholders and field offices. The KMC team sits within the Communications, Learning, Evidence and Analytics for Results (CLEAR) unit that also includes Data Analytics and Monitoring & Evaluation teams. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world GHSC-PSM is the primary vehicle through which USAID procures health commodities, provides technical assistance to improve partner countries’ management of supply chains, and collaborates with key international stakeholders to support global health initiatives. Responsibilities include: KMC Strategy and Management
  • Direct refinement and execution of a comprehensive KMC strategy and framework based on state-of-the-art theory and practice to guide GHSC-PSM KMC activities at all levels
  • Provide day-to-day oversight, management, and team development of multi-faceted KMC personnel
  • Coordinate closely with Chemonics’ corporate communications personnel, recognizing that GHSC-PSM is a complex, high-profile project
  • Coordinate closely with USAID’s communications POCs and share pertinent information from USAID meetings within the GHSC-PSM team and Chemonics
  • Engage KMC team and directly contribute to GHSC-PSM knowledge products including technical publications, reports, learning briefs, updates/newsletters, brochures, presentations, videos, posters, social media content
  • Provide oversight for consultants and/or vendors hired to provide KMC services and support
  • Ensure timely response to internal and external information requests as needed
Communications Products
  • Manage GHSC-PSM identity and messaging, and ensure communication product consistency and quality across the project, at the global and country levels, including compliance with USAID branding and marking guidelines and 508 requirements
  • Oversee production and quality control of numerous project deliverables, most importantly contractually required reports, as well as other client-requested ad hoc reports and project updates, including managing staff responsible for the writing and preparation of these reports
  • Oversee KMC team in communication efforts related to storytelling and visibility, namely:
    • Developing messaging, collateral for visibility and events (e.g., posters, brochures, digital promotion/marketing graphics, etc.), success stories, external and internal news and updates
    • Curating/updating photo library
    • Developing templates, job aids, tools, and associated training
    • Updating/developing descriptive materials and presentations for internal and external use
Online Engagement
  • Direct/oversee all online engagement efforts, including content development and backend management, social media management, online promotional campaigns, and monthly analytics/metrics reporting
Country KMC Support
  • Oversee KMC staff who assist countries preparing and implementing KMC strategies and work plans consistent with overarching project goals and objectives, providing both on-site and remote technical assistance
  • Manage team to oversee and help support country KMC needs, e.g., periodic conferences with country staff, trainings
Knowledge Management/Collaborating, Learning and Adapting
  • Lead development and implementation of a project KM strategy and learning agenda that ensures curation of knowledge assets and active engagement of GHSC-PSM stakeholders worldwide in a community of practice to promote sharing, learning, and application of evidence-based approaches
  • Oversee KMC staff in developing knowledge sharing and learning processes, systems, and tools including social media to enable collaboration, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making
  • Support efforts to develop and implement digital strategies for information and content management (storage and dissemination) including a taxonomy for filing
  • Manage and support team to execute specific project CLA activities, including webinars, presentations, events, online discussions, and informal learning events (all of which must be archived and searchable)
  • Bachelors in communications, knowledge management, or public health required. Master’s preferred
  • Minimum ten years of demonstrated experience in communications, knowledge management, and/or public relations
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy development and design for complex projects
  • Up-to-date knowledge of communications and knowledge management (KM) technologies and standards and an understanding of the constraints and benefits of different approaches and technologies
  • Familiarity with the international public health sphere and USAID public health programming
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Impeccable interpersonal and management skills to support team development and cross-team collaboration in highly complex structures involving multiple teams, stakeholders, and client groups
  • Excellent attention to detail and track record of producing high-quality content/publications
  • Ability to meet deadlines under extreme pressure, build consensus and work with diverse groups of people
  • Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multicultural groups in a developing country environment
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in a secondary language preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Photoshop; working knowledge of WordPress preferred
