General summary/purpose:

The overall strategic focus of STOP Spillover will be on reducing spillover of emerging zoonotic viruses from wildlife to people and reducing amplification and spread of zoonotic viruses in people after they have spilled over from wildlife. STOP Spillover will use existing and new evidence to develop, deploy, and evaluate interventions to reduce the spillover of emerging zoonotic viruses at high-risk animal-human interfaces and reduce amplification and spread of these threats at high-risk foci such as health care facilities. The goal of STOP Spillover is to enhance understanding and reduce risk of zoonotic viral spillover, amplification, and spread.

The Senior Program Officer/KM Technical Advisor will ensure integration of various and effective Knowledge Management approaches to reach project goals and deliverables. They will be integrated into the STOP Spillover technical team, and will work across the entire STOP Spillover project supporting regional and country efforts in Africa and Asia.

The Senior Program Officer/KM Technical Advisor provides technical, programmatic, and administrative assistance to one or more programs and leads the development and implementation of discreet program activities independently. The Senior Program Officer/KM Technical Advisor may supervise and mentor staff. S/he also travels internationally to lead short-term technical assistance (STTA) in areas of their expertise, and may oversee STTA trips of junior staff. S/he will lead technical work and center-wide initiatives independently. S/he will lead proposal development and contribute to strategic partnership development, with support.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

Masters degree (M.A., MHS, MPH) required.

Five years related experience required.

Preferred qualifications:

International experience preferred.

Experience working in risk communication, emergency response, and prevention of zoonotic diseases preferred.

French language abilities preferred.

Leadership and management expertise preferred.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Social and behavior change communication expertise

Risk communication, emergency response, and prevention of zoonotic diseases.
