Position Description:
The Legislative Coordinator will work closely with the campaign staff and partners to execute day to day legislative operations.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in direct advocacy to congressional staff through meetings, phone calls, and emails.
- Track relevant floor votes, committee mark-ups, and hearings, as necessary.
- Develop weekly Legislative Updates to convey recent and upcoming congressional activity to all WAH staff.
- Conduct research on key issues, including legislative procedures and voting records of members of Congress.
- Prepare advocacy materials, including fact sheets and WAH partner updates.
- Provide support for lobby days such as fly-ins, and other special events.
- Set up meetings with Members of Congress and Administration officials for WAH partners and maintain an up-to-date tracking process.
- Assist in managing the campaign’s Legislative and Executive table by preparing agendas and taking notes.
Qualifications:
We seek candidates with the following qualifications, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- You should have at least 1-2 years professional experience (preferably working on a political/legislative campaign or in Congress). Experience advocating for immigration issues is a plus.
- You must have an understanding of politics, Congressional procedure, and legislative and executive advocacy.
- You will be a self-starter, able to read and review legislation and determine how it aligns with WAH priorities.
- You must possess superior organizational skills and be detail oriented, with strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- You should have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Working knowledge of Google Drive and Quorum.
- Knowledge of, or interest in, local and national immigrant rights organizations and/or the progressive issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups and people.
- Self-motivated, independent, willing to work long, flexible hours and meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced working environment.
- Strong commitment to social and racial justice.

This position reports to: Campaign Director
Position Location: Continental U.S with D.C.-area preferred. Remote position
Salary & Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits package includes employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, 6% employer match on 401k contributions, pre-tax transportation benefits, and paid holidays, vacation, sick, and volunteer time off. Salary range is $45,000 – $65,000 depending on experience and skill level.

Duration: The Campaign will run until June 30th, 2022.
