The Long-term Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Adviser, Nauru will provide advice and technical support on gender equality and social inclusion to the Government of Nauru’s Ministry of Women and Social Development Affairs and the Department of People Living with a Disability.
The Long-term GESI Adviser, Nauru will:
- Provide technical assistance, institutional strengthening and capacity development support to strengthen the Nauru Government’s capacities to progress national GESI commitments, policies, legislation and programs, including embedding GESI-targeted outcomes in COVID-19 recovery actions.
- Provide training, mentoring, coaching and technical assistance to strengthen Nauru’s women’s machinery and to support the Australian High Commission in Nauru.
- Advise and provide technical advice to support Nauru stakeholders to build comprehensive and sustainable national prevention and support services for survivors and perpetrators of domestic and gender-based violence.
- Actively participate in the Pacific Women GESI Community of Practice to support Australian High Commissions, Pacific Island governments and civil society organisations to ensure gender equality and social inclusion outcomes are embedded in national COVID-19 response and recovery programs.
The Long-term GESI Adviser, Nauru will commence the role from their homebase; with possible deployment to Nauru, pending COVID-19 travel restrictions and approvals.
