Job Description

Devex is currently assisting an independent worldwide provider of health sector consulting services, in their search for a Managing/Technical Director. As part of the organization’s dynamic development and growth, we seek to strengthen our headquarters with an experienced health expert and manager to serve in the management Team as Technical Director and to take on leadership tasks.


  • Contribute to developing and operationalizing strategic objectives
  • Provide technical advice in the main areas of competence (i) Health Policy and Financing, (ii) Health Facilities and Services, (iii) Integrated Primary Healthcare and in Monitoring and Evaluation of running projects
  • Supporting project managers at Headquarters and
  • Supporting project teams in developing countries (virtually and visits on-site)
  • Strategically position the organization through visits and networking with clients and donors on-site
  • For the development and discussion of technical concepts for tenders
  • For negotiations and conflict resolving
  • Take responsibility for managing and developing a team of project managers and consultants at Headquarters
  • Carry out technical short-term missions
  • Develop innovative technical approaches and tools, publications and presentations for conferences, for clients, partners and financing agencies


  • University Degree in Medicine/Medical Doctor Degree
  • A Master in Public Health, Health Management, Nutrition or a similar field would be an asset
  • At least 5 years of clinical professional experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in leading and managing teams
  • Experience in international projects and in development cooperation would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in multi-cultural contexts and team player
  • Very good oral language and writing skills in English (ideally also in German)
  • French and other language skills would be an asset
  • Good leadership and problem-solving skills
  • High level of commitment and integrity, motivator
