Palladium seeks a Market Systems Advisor for the upcoming Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets Activity. This activity will increase incomes and improve the livelihoods of households through agricultural-led inclusive economic growth. The activity will focus on the active participation and engagement of all actors looking to participate in the market system and on creating efficiencies in cross market functions that influence systemic change, in order to achieve sustainable impact.

The Market Systems Advisor will be responsible for providing the technical team with leadership and capacity building around facilitating improvements and changes in Ugandan agricultural market systems. S/he will ensure that the project is consistently applying a market systems facilitation approach across all components to achieve activity objectives.

* Lead the use of a market systems approach in all aspects of program design and implementation
* Provide coaching that emphasizes strategic collaboration and effectively facilitates behavior change among market actors.
* Keep up with market trends, changes, and risks and adapt interventions that quickly respond to these changes.
* Provide in depth analysis of Uganda’s agricultural market ecosystem, including new linkages, new markets, potential buyers and investors, product trends, etc.
* Identify and establish strategic partnerships within the market
* design interventions based on market analysis and assessments.
* Work closely with the COP to develop strategies and work plans focused on market systems.
* Brings and leverages private and public sector partnerships and relationships to overcome market system constraints.
* Master’s degree in agricultural economics, business, or related field with specialized study in market systems development OR
* Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5 years of experience in economic development
* 5 years minimum experience in economic development/competitiveness program design and implementation using market systems approach
* 5 years of expert level experience analyzing agricultural market systems
* At least 5 years of experience working in related fields in Africa
* Attention to detail and ability to effectively and efficiently perform multiple tasks and balance competing priorities
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
