Job Description

Work Location

  • Full-time, in-person internship, with adjustments possible based on the needs of the successful candidate

Expected Duration

  • 3–6 months

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Sales and Marketing Section, Outreach Division, Department of Global Communications, New York City
  • Assist in designing and implementing the overall marketing strategy for United Nations Publications
  • Promote the UN brand and drive demand for UN Publications
  • Perform tasks including:
    • Assisting with planning and producing marketing campaigns across multiple channels and platforms
    • Providing logistic support for public events at the UN Bookshop
    • Drafting, formatting, editing, and posting website content, news stories, social media content, graphics, photographs, and videos
    • Supporting maintenance of databases and compiling reports
    • Conducting research on thematic issues
    • Assisting with development and implementation of surveys
    • Providing general office support such as processing, drafting, and finalizing correspondence; maintaining files/records; organizing meetings
  • Interns work under the supervision of the Marketing Officer for up to 35 hours per week

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Must meet one of the following:
    • Enrolled in a graduate program (second university degree or higher)
    • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level)
    • Graduated with a university degree (minimum bachelor’s level)
  • Additional requirements:
    • Computer literacy in standard software applications
    • Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to UN Charter ideals
    • Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs
  • No prior work experience required; relevant training, education, or skills are considered

Languages

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (e.g., French) is an advantage
