The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, Australia Awards and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards and education programs in Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability inclusion, climate change, emergency preparedness and response and civil society engagement, across sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalized.
Australia’s Support to Fiji’s Education Sector program works in close partnership with the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts (MEHA) to enable all girls and boys to learn. It focuses on strengthening MEHA HR capacity, literacy and numeracy, inclusive education, Fiji Education Management Information System (FEMIS) and teacher preparation and development.
The Math Curriculum Coordinator (Secondary) will support MEHA, as a key member of the Literacy and Numeracy team, to develop and implement the Math’s Curriculum Scoping and Sequencing for Year 9 to Year 13 in order to achieve optimum learning outcomes based on international best practice. The role will work closely with Curriculum Specialist – Mathematics (Secondary), Literacy and Numeracy team (Primary), and Curriculum Advisory Services (CAS) counterparts to ensure a seamless transition in the scoping and sequencing of the Early Childhood Education (ECE), Primary and Secondary Mathematics curriculum.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capacity to plan and deliver high quality and effective training workshops around Math strategies. The successful candidate will also have advanced knowledge in Numeracy strategies and procedures and the capacity to coach, encourage and support head teachers and classroom teachers to adopt and implement new strategies in their classrooms. In addition, the successful candidate will understand how to work in a child safe environment and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the capacity to mainstream crosscutting themes into program activities. A Bachelor’s degree in Education with a major in Mathematics or related area is a requirement for this position.
