Pact’s communications work focuses on telling the stories of the people we serve - to increase awareness among varied audiences of the challenges they face, the systemic solutions we use to address those challenges, and how we can do more to improve the lives of vulnerable people around the world. Pact is looking for a Communications Specialist to help us tell that story and join our growing communications and external engagement team. The Specialist will support efforts across a broad range of communications and media relations activities, including direct support to Pact’s private sector engagement and public policy work.

Department Overview:
Pact strives for a world where all people are heard, capable, and vibrant. The Integrated Communications department helps realize this objective by supporting organizational and project level communications across Pact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain media lists, draft pitch materials, and support the management of relations with key reporters and outlets.
  • Work with senior team leads to support media relations efforts, including pitch development, outreach and reporting.
  • Conduct regular media monitoring (traditional and social) and create coverage reports for a range of sectors and issue areas.
  • Helps coordinate media responses as needed with senior communications colleagues to ensure professionalism and message consistency.
  • Selects and submits key events for Pact’s Communications planning calendar.
  • Assist senior team members in the development and execution of communications campaign plans, including public policy, corporate and digital engagements.
  • Research and draft client-facing materials, including memos, presentations, press releases, talking points, fact sheets, media lists, and social media content.
  • Contribute to the development of new proposals and presentations for prospective partners – including background research and briefing materials.
  • Engages with Pact communications in country offices to improve coordination.
  • Works with communications colleagues on the production process for online and print communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, political science, public affairs, development, or another relevant field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in strategic communications or media relations within the corporate, government, politics, non-profits, or agency spaces, political campaigns, or a related industry
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including press releases and pitch materials
  • Proven track record of managing a results-oriented media relations programs, strategic organizational communications.
  • Experience using digital communications and social media platforms.
  • Team player with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with team members
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain quality, detail and organization across multiple assignments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French.
