The Partnership for Human Development (PHD) represents Australia’s long-term vision for enhancing human development in Timor Leste. It brings together the Australian Embassy’s (Timor Leste) diverse activities in health, education, water, sanitation, nutrition, gender equality, disability and social protection into a single program to maximise effectiveness, relevance and performance.
The Government of Australia through PHD has invested in a number of nutrition programs and initiatives including Hamutuk (currently piloted in Suku Holarua – Manufahi), the President Nutrition Award, and the provision of technical assistance across sectors and outside of PHD.
Aligned with recommendations from the review of Australia’s investments in nutrition in Timor-Leste in 2017, PHD will explore further opportunities to support the Government of Timor-Leste to improve nutrition and food security outcomes; in order to improve the nutritional status of all Timorese people, particularly women and children.
The Nutrition Adviser will advise on the strategic development of nutrition programming, promote cross sectoral opportunities and provide technical support to the Nutrition team on day-to-day program management and implementation of community based initiatives. Working closely with the Technical Lead – Nutrition, the key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic advice and technical support to key internal and external stakeholders, on the development of PHD nutrition programming and related community based initiatives
- Lead research on evidence based nutrition programming, as well as analysis and interpretation of government policies, strategies, and relevant national surveys and research to inform PHD and GOTL nutrition programming; advise and assist with M&E and reporting
- Provide technical support to the Nutrition team on day-to-day program management to ensure programs and all community based initiatives are implemented effectively and efficiently.
The PHD Program is a five year program. The position is available for 12 month’s duration with the possibility of extension based on individual performance, approval of program budget and alignment with ongoing program work plan.
