Job Description

Qualifications and skills
  • Professional engineer/scientists with degree.
  • Sound judgment to provide detailed technical, commercial, environmental, social and managerial evaluation.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of capital costs and operation and maintenance cost parameters of solar photovoltaics, battery storage and other hybrid systems with storage solutions.
  • Knowledge of market and competitive analysis, tariff regimes, commercial operations, and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English.
Professional experience
  • At least 12 years of experience in working with power utilities, incl.: General management of utility companies, human resources, contract management financial and risk management within a utility, successfully leading tariff (re-)structuring in dialogue with the relevant stakeholders (regulator, ministries, national utilities).
  • Working knowledge of Sub-Saharan African electricity systems.
  • Experience in West Africa, and in particular in The Gambia will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with projects in Sub-Saharan Africa Western Africa in particular
  • At least 5 years relevant, recent experience in renewable energy and battery storage.
  • Knowledge and hands-on recent experience in public consultation and stakeholder engagement is an advantage.
  • Experience in assisting project developers to develop bankable projects is an advantage.
  • Significant work experience in the private sector.
  • Previous experience in risk analysis, due diligence and monitoring including Procurement and Social-Environmental matters of RE projects is an advantage.
  • Relevant and recent professional experience in Africa is preferred.
