Job Description

Chemonics seeks a Payroll Associate for the Finance and Accounting Division. The associate will perform payroll related operations including timesheet review, payroll data analysis, and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate posting to payroll records in a timely manner. This position is also subject to special duties and assignments as designated by the supervisor. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:
  • Using electronic payroll system (ADP) and timekeeping application (TimeSite), processes payroll for assigned employee pay group by set deadline; follows company policies and government regulations to ensure compliance
  • Prepare and reviews monthly reports, and analyzes and reconciles discrepancies between ADP, TimeSite, and accounting system, Solomon
  • Prepare the calculation, verification, and reconciliation of expatriate allowances. Serves as main point of contact for questions related to expatriate allowances and provides training to staff as needed. Assists in resolving employee disputes regarding such matters
  • Review financial data submitted to ADP, identifies deficiencies and/or discrepancies, and prepares necessary corrections
  • Provide general customer service for all employees regarding payroll. Answers payroll questions, answers systems questions, deduction issues, open timesheets, and other payroll-related inquiries
  • Perform in acting capacity in manager’s absence
  • Assist in developing tools, guidelines, and training materials consistent with corporate policies and best practices
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a finance-related field OR equivalent work experience
  • One year of experience processing payroll, accounts payable, or invoicing in an office setting required
  • Minimum of one year of experience in payroll, accounts payable, or invoicing required
  • U.S. government contracting experience and familiarity with expatriate allowances preferred
  • Knowledge of how to manually calculate payroll preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; strong cross-culture communication and sensitivity skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle routine administrative tasks and operational issues
  • Ability to multitask with strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard practices and procedures, receive general instruction and supervision, and contribute to projects and initiatives
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem-solving and initiative to learn new skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Prior experience with Solomon and ADP software preferred
  • Prior experience with accounting software strongly preferred
  • Language proficiency for assigned geographic area preferred
  • Previous experience working in international development and/or living or conducting volunteer work in developing countries preferred
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad in less developed countries for at least 4 to 8 weeks per year
