The role of Private Sector Adviser
You will join the National Security Council’s (NSC) new Joint Funds Unit, which brings together the £1.2 billion Prosperity Fund (PF) and the £6 billion Conflict, Stability and Security Fund. The PF strategy is focused on high impact, strategic multi-year programmes, delivered across high opportunity countries, regions and sectors. As Private Sector Advisor, you will provide leadership on private sector development across the PF portfolio. You will recommend ways to strengthen the business environment and investment climates with PF partner countries to generate mutual prosperity. You will also build capacity for Private Sector Development (PSD), utilising your technical knowledge to provide overarching reports on PSD and develop a range of products and services to encourage good practice and guidance. Working closely with stakeholders, you will ensure a robust approach to PSD, making sure that the PF strategy and portfolio continues to grow and progress, promoting inclusive and sustainable growth, as well as a reduction in poverty. This role is a great opportunity that will see you develop your expertise in this area.
Along with a Masters’ degree (or equivalent), you will have proven experience in a related area, such as development studies, sociology or political science. We would like to see substantial experience of working with business and the private sector in a development context, as well as evidence of where you have worked on the design and delivery of private sector investment. You will be a development specialist with experience working on the design of multilateral lending or investment instruments. You will also need to have personal credibility and excellent communication skills, with proven experience in stakeholder management.
