Job Description:

Apprio is seeking an experienced Program Support Specialist. The Program Support Specialist provides support to technical staff, performing a variety of both complex and routine administrative, communications and analytical duties. These duties range from administrative-type tasks such as scheduling briefings and meetings and maintaining program files, to more complex communications or analytical tasks such as drafting topline messaging, developing factsheets, creating newsletters, collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for various program documents and designing and maintaining spreadsheets in support of financial tracking and/reporting systems. The Program Support Specialist ranks tasks in order of importance and impending deadlines, and handles several tasks simultaneously. The individual must develop a working knowledge of USAID policies and guidelines, as well as corporate practices and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists technical staff in the preparation of various program documents and and strategic communications materials such as top-line messaging, marketing materials, blog posts, case studies, video scripts, and presentations.
  • Maintains or provides assistance with administrative systems and processes, and assists in the design and maintenance of guidance documents, spreadsheets, and reports to support these systems.
  • Monitors development and technology news, trends, and best practices, and translates into actionable content and programming.
  • Researches, plans, analyzes, and organizes technical and/or statistical information and develops content for external and internal communications channels.
  • Collects and compiles data and messaging for use in regular and adhoc reporting on programs for reports, fact sheets and other communications materials.
  • Collects and makes arrangements for distribution of material to USAID missions, USAID /W offices, host country institutions, and cooperating agencies.
  • Develops and manages social media content and provides quarterly tracking reports.
  • Recommends formats, branding, and design layouts for reports and other external communications products, ensuring consistency with USAID standards.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains communications program files.
  • Helps coordinate, plan and participate in trainings for USAID country and sector staff
  • Coordinates and manages special projects as requested
  • Participates in LAB/FO office rotations as requested

Educational Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree – International Affairs, Communications, Economics, Public Policy, Technology, Business or related field.
Certification Preferred: N/A
Required Experience: 4 to 6 years of experience

Requirement Knowledge:

  • Minimum of one to three (1-3) years of related experience in international development, non-governmental (NGO) or the private sector
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media platforms.
  • Experience producing, managing, and organizing content via web, video, visual, written and other channels.
  • Familiarity and experience with digital publishing tools, basic HTML, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Ability to work well in teams
