We are seeking a D.C.-based Project Accounting Assistant. This person will provide accounting and financial compliance support to ACDI/VOCA field accounting and HQ project teams. The position will closely interact with HQ based project teams and field office accounting teams. The position requires analysis, data entry, and development and maintenance of various accounting reports and documents. It will report directly to the Senior Project Accounting Manager and is part of the Finance and Accounting Department at ACDI/VOCA.


Primary activities include but are not limited to: review project specific field office documents to ensure completeness of file upload; review field office timesheets for completeness and audit readiness; maintain various project trackers; collect and archive field office leases and legal invoices; verify field office inventory reports against Asset Database; compile “New Award Financial Compliance” summary form; and assist with processing of QuickBooks file as needed.

In addition, this position will review and process volunteer expense reports for the Volunteer Programs. They will also collect and archive sub-recipient financial close out documents and obtain copies of sub-recipient’s Single Audit report. They will maintain the SharePoint page, along with other systems. This position will assist with the annual audit process by compiling samples, as well.


Minimum Qualifications require a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance. Accounting experience preferred. Ability to multitask, work under tight deadlines, and in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage priorities and workflow. Experience in a professional office setting required. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work across diverse cultures and personalities. Good analytical, organizational, research, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of a foreign language is a plus (French, Spanish, Arabic, or Russian).
