Job Description


  • This consultancy will lead proposal writing efforts for at least two proposals to U.S. Government donors to support the continuation of RI’s programming in Upper Nile State.
  • Completion of Proposals for Submission:The consultant will take primary responsibility for gathering information, drafting technical narratives, budgets and supporting documents, and leading team members. Consultant is responsible for adherence to donor requirements and suggestions, and for producing quality proposals with a high likelihood of funding. Consultant will ensure programs are feasible, useful, and properly budgeted for.
  • Adhere to RI Internal Procedures for Proposal Submission: The consultant will work with RI staff members to insure that the submitted proposals conform to all RI internal requirements and quality control mechanisms, including independent budget review.
  • Coordinate with Partners: The consultant will be responsible for coordinating with other actors on the ground to ensure RI programming in responsive to unfulfilled needs and meets best practices. Where necessary, the consultant will be responsible for securing letters of support from relevant U.N. agencies, community grounds, and government officials.


  • At least four years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience writing international humanitarian or development proposals for U.S. donors; experience with OFDA is highly desirable
  • Experience writing budgets for international development programs in challenging contexts; proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
  • Ability to work independently and innovatively
  • Experience working in challenging environments
  • Experience in South Sudan highly desirable
