Job Description

Johnstaff International Development has been appointed to project manage the ANGAU redevelopment, the largest single infrastructure project being delivered under the PNG-Australia development partnership. We have established the ANGAU Project Delivery Office (PDO) in Lae, Morobe Province and are currently seeking to recruit a Project Manager/Contract Administrator to join us in delivering a high quality, sustainable and patient focused hospital precinct that modernises the delivery of health services in Papua New Guinea.

The Redevelopment

The Governments of Papua New Guinea and Australia are redeveloping ANGAU Memorial Hospital in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. This major redevelopment project will deliver a high quality regional referral hospital that provides improved access to integrated health services for the people of the Momase and Highlands Regions.

This project involves the progressive redevelopment of the existing health services infrastructure at ANGAU Hospital. The hospital is being built and equipped to international standards and designed to best serve the needs of patients. New and refurbished facilities will enable a quality integrated health service, with facilities and equipment that are consistent with GoPNG guidelines, standards and reformed models of care.

In addition to the capital works, there is concurrent investment in human capital to achieve sustainable improvements in patient care – in particular, enhanced governance and oversight, organisational reform, and workforce development and training.

The Position

The Project Manager/Contract Administrator will provide high quality project management services to the ANGAU redevelopment project. The position will work as part of the Project Delivery Office on behalf of the client to provide high quality contract administration. The role oversees the cost management of contractors and consultants in line with Government of Australia and Government of PNG requirements.

The ideal candidate has a depth of knowledge in building processes and experience in complex construction contract administration. They will possess a suitable project management, quantity surveying, engineering, architecture or building related qualification. PNG experience in the building and construction industry will be highly regarded.

The position is based full-time in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.

Remuneration will comply with the Australian Aid Adviser Remuneration Framework (C3). The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a police record check and medical examination as a condition of employment.
