Job Description

NCBA CLUSA is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Recruiter for our Farer to Farmer project. This entry-level position is based in Washington, DC.

Scope and purpose
The Recruiter is responsible for delivering all facets of recruiting success for Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) volunteer placements. This role is responsible for developing recruiting plans, employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as developing new, creative recruiting ideas. The Recruiter will play a critical role in ensuring the best possible volunteers are selected. The Recruiter will actively source candidates, build and maintain a pipeline of talented professionals and promote Farmer-to-Farmer’s brand to target potential new volunteers. This position will also include implementing and making suggestions on the full-cycle F2F recruitment process: reviewing and improving upon Scopes of Work developed in the field, creating volunteer announcements, networking, screening and interviewing candidates and delivering volunteer offers. The Recruiter is responsible for preparing and collecting documentation relating to the F2F recruitment process: CVs, references, authorizations, waivers, medical clearances, etc.

The Recruiter will work on F2F for 75% of his/her time. The other 25% will be spent on project and business development recruitment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Sources, recruits, interviews and recommends appropriate volunteers in alignment with F2F SOW needs
  2. Follows and promotes understanding of best practices related to recruiting volunteers; maintains and update as needed a F2F manual outlining processes, policies, and best practices.
  3. Informs applicants of assignment duties and responsibilities, allowance, schedules and working conditions, other related information.
  4. Ensures proactive and continual networking efforts to maintain a pipeline of qualified talent.
  5. Implements and updates volunteer recruitment best practices in accordance with NCBA CLUSA and F2F policies and regulations.
  6. Identifies appropriate outreach opportunities and represent NCBA CLUSA at career fairs, professional conferences and networking events.
  7. Conducts reference checks and collects needed documents from volunteers before and after their assignments
  8. Manages the applicant tracking system/database to house and track volunteers.
  9. Assists in the recruit of all levels of international personnel for projects and proposals.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, Economics, Business or Human Resources (or related field). A minimum of one to two years working with a development project and/or volunteers, preferably including field experience in the developing world.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to write or type, use arms to reach for items and turn head to speak and/or hear others. The employee will frequently walk, reach, stoop, push and pull up to 20 lbs. and lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The noise level should remain low to moderate during the normal business hours. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Demonstrated understanding of international development project design and implementation.

Familiarity working with volunteers
Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills as well as ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.
Experience being a team player and working under pressure to tight deadlines in a highly effective and collegial manner.
Strong networking skills.
Sound judgment with ability to make timely decisions, exercise discretion and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

LANGUAGE:
Excellent ability to read, write and speak English. This position requires no specific language skill other than the English language. Foreign language fluency, particularly Spanish is desired.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel to developing countries.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where complex tasks are necessary.

This position works closely with and under the direction of the Director of Farmer-to-Farmer. S/he is expected to work in a positive, professional manner with all staff, members and the general public.
