Job Description

Intern – Communication Section, Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO), Paraguay

Work Location:
Asunción, Paraguay

Expected Duration:

  • Minimum of 3 months and maximum of 6 months
  • Hybrid modality: some days in office, some days remote (home office)

Duties and Responsibilities:
The internship is offered through the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. ECLAC contributes to the region’s economic and social development through policy design, evaluation, advisory services, and training. More information is available at www.eclac.org.

The intern will support the Communication Section of the RCO Paraguay under the guidance of the Team Leader and the Communication Officer. Tasks include:

  • Drafting, editing, and adapting communication materials (e.g., press releases, web content, social media posts, reports)
  • Providing administrative support, including organizing documents, scheduling meetings, and other clerical duties
  • Supporting updates and maintenance of UNIC Asunción’s website and social media platforms
  • Assisting in the production of communication products (e.g., infographics, videos, newsletters)
  • Supporting media monitoring and compiling background information for press briefings and events
  • Assisting with the organization of communication-related events, including logistical coordination
  • Supporting photography, captioning, and basic video editing tasks
  • Helping maintain internal databases, mailing lists, and communication tools
  • Supporting outreach coordination with government entities, civil society, and development partners
  • Performing other communication and administrative tasks as assigned

Qualifications / Special Skills:
Applicants must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (Master’s or equivalent); or
  • Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent)

For this internship, studies in Communications, Administration, International Relations, Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, or related fields are highly desirable.

Languages:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required
  • Spanish is also required
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) is an asset

  • Internships are unpaid
  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the intern’s or sponsoring institution’s responsibility
  • Non-citizens or non-residents of Paraguay may need to secure a visa or work authorization
  • Successful candidates should clarify visa requirements prior to accepting the internship offer
