Job Description


Abt Associates seeks a qualified Senior Business Development Specialist to support the Global Business Development Unit in our Rockville, MD, office. The Senior Business Development Specialist will provide a variety of proposal related tasks for multiple and complex bids as well as leads. S/He will participate in special initiatives related to proposal management and may provide training and supervision to less experienced staff. The Senior Business Development Specialist will primarily support Abt’s international business through all phases of the business development lifecycle.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing proposal schedules, compliance matrixes, and contact lists under the direction of the Proposal Manager
  • Perform meeting logistics for kickoff, pink and red team reviews, and other meetings, including scheduling meetings, developing agendas and other handouts, taking notes, and maintaining action item lists
  • Assist with identifying and compiling key proposal elements such as past performance correspondence, resumes, teaming or consultant agreements, and/or corporate qualifications
  • Serve as coordinator for receiving and compiling partner materials under the direction of the Proposal Manager
  • Review and QC proposal text and graphics
  • Planning and conducting training of new Proposal Coordinators
  • Developing and updating proposal templates and tools
  • Conduct research on potential clients, opportunities and new initiatives, partners, and/or competitors to support business development as well as strategic planning for the company and/or divisions

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • Outstanding communications skills, along with demonstrated professionalism and courteous behavior at all times
  • Full knowledge and understanding of the entire organization’s current and future strategic priorities
  • Also requires demonstrated ability to conduct research, perform quantitative analysis and write

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA (6 – 8) years of experience OR MA/MBA (3) years of experience OR PhD (Entry Level) OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
