MWH Global is seeking candidates for Senior Environmental Specialist for a major ESIA effort.

The job is immediately available.

Duties and Responsibilities

The position is for the Deputy Chief of Party for environmental matters for a major Hydroelectric dam project. This is a replacement assignment which will run from June 2015 to September 2016 . The scoping will have been completed by the end of May, 2015. The previous DCOP will provide transition assistance to the incoming DCOP. MWH has 4 expatriates pretty much full time in country (Chief of Party, DCOP Environment, DCOP Social/ Resettlement, DCOP Engineering aspects). This core team is supported by a local support team of 15 people. The team is also supported by a team of about 15 expatriate specialists who make periodic visits to site. Finally, there are two major national consultants with approximately 30 counterpart experts on various engineering, environmental and social/ resettlement areas.

The job is to lead and manage the environmental aspects of the ESIA for a proposed $14Billion hydroelectric dam project, coordinate with the other DCOPs.

The project is in Pakistan and the office is in Islamabad at a secure location. The project would require a deployment to Pakistan on the basis of a two month schedule in Pakistan and one month working at home office. Compensation is at USAID max Cap (subject to required 1420 substantiation). There would be a 35% danger payment for time spent in Pakistan.

Qualifications

The position of Deputy Chief of Party - Environment must have the ability to act as Chief of

Party, in the absence of the Chief of Party. The Deputy Chief of Party - Environment shall be

located in the Islamabad project office with short-term assignments to the WAPDA headquarters

in Lahore or to a field office within the project area. The DCOP/Environment shall have

demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in the English language

Additionally, the ideal candidate would have the following

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with ESIA assignments in a leadership position
  • Experience with large hydroelectric dam projects
  • Experience with Asian Development Bank (or World Bank) on major projects
