The (Sr.) Impact Program Manager develops, manages, monitors and improves USP’s discounts and donations programs, aimed at supporting USP’s global public health impact mission and goals. The position will define the vision for how USP will incorporate public health considerations into product pricing, and align donations and discounted pricing programs with both broad USP priorities (e.g., improving the quality of medicines in developing countries, combatting antimicrobial resistance, addressing the opioid crisis, etc.).
The (Sr.) Impact Program Manager has full end-to-end responsibility in this regard – leading international strategy and planning for programs, ensuring efficient execution, monitoring impact, managing to plans and budget, and implementing learnings and improvements. The role requires significant cross-functional collaboration and the ability to work at a strategic level, as well as an operational/ execution level.
This position is housed within USP’s Strategy and Business Development Group. It is part of the Impact Measurement, Evaluation and Strategy function, whose goal is to measure and help maximize USP’s public health impact. This is a non-supervisory position.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develops global and local strategy and tactics for USP’s non-commercial discounts and donations to maximize USP’s public health impact mission
- Manages and improves the performance of existing programs offering donations and discounts to regulators and students, and conceptualizes new programs Develops evidence-based approach to refining customer and product selection, incorporating insights on how and in what contexts USP standards have the most public health impact
- Creates system for monitoring and evaluating impact
- Provides thought partnership to colleagues in other departments on how to incorporate non-commercial discounts and donations programs into their strategic plans
- Collaborates with operational departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency of execution
- Prepares and disseminates program impact reports to USP Executive Team, the USP Executive Pricing Council, and other USP leadership groups
- Develops, analyzes and tracks annual budget plans and targets for USP’s donation efforts as they relate to impact pricing
- Improves system capability and process efficiency
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications for Manager
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in program management, including experience in monitoring and evaluation or similar function
Additional qualifications for Senior Manager:
At least seven (7) years of experience in building programs or monitoring and evaluation
- MBA or Master’s Degree in scientific field, Economics, Public Policy, Public Health or related area
- Fluency with data analytics and Microsoft Excel
- PMP Certificate
- Experience in planning, budgeting and reporting
- Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration
- Some international experience, particularly in developing and emerging markets, in public health sectors or pharmaceutical areas
- Comfort with the ambiguity involved in creating a new program
- Comfort in driving the development of strategies and work plans
- Excellent verbal, writing and interpersonal communication
- Highly self-motivated and able to handle multiple concurrent projects
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and drive to results
