The Senior Manager – Humanitarian Operations will provide leadership, operational support and guidance to Country Offices (COs) and CARE Member Partners to ensure appropriate humanitarian response and preparedness interventions. S/he is expected to provide expertise and leadership support to COs and facilitate the required operational support to enable COs to implement quality emergency response with speed and scale. S/he will maintain direct supervision of the Emergency Preparedness Planning (EPP) project and Supply Chain Management (SCM)/logistics activities. The Senior Manager will maintain close engagement with COs to understand their challenges and discuss/identify viable solutions and support them to address their challenges and deliver on their commitments. This will be done through regular field visits and continuous monitoring, identifying and addressing/escalating operational bottlenecks, systems constraints and capacity gaps in COs. S/he is expected to work with and across the concerned support teams to ensure timely support to COs and complement the other CARE technical capacities, with more focus on operational and program support aspects. S/he will collaborate with respective CARE USA’s units/departments, Regional and CO teams, CARE Emergency Group (CEG) and CARE Rapid Response Teams (RRT) to ensure timely support to COs humanitarian responses. S/he is also expected to represent the Humanitarian Team (HT) in relevant Fora/events as and when required. The position reports directly to the Director - Humanitarian Operations in CARE USA, acts as an active HT member and works closely in collaboration with other Humanitarian Team members to ensure proper coordination, synergy and complementarity of roles for provision of effective support required by COs. This position requires an individual who is dynamic, resourceful, flexible and be able to make frequent travels at short notice.

Responsibilities:

  • Information collection, analysis and reporting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • BA/BSc in humanitarian studies or similar fields or relevant practical experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the humanitarian response field in a senior management and leadership position, preferably in program management and operations
  • Excellent written and spoken English; good communication skills and convincing presenter;
  • Proven forward planning and strategic skills; strong public relations and teamwork skills and network building; good training and facilitation skills
  • prefer candidates with experience in supply chain/logistics management

We will consider candidates based in other locations although prefer Atlanta. The selected candidate must be willing and able to deploy within 24 hours to emergencies around the world.
