Job Description

Position Mandate:

The Senior Manager, Philanthropic Strategic Partnerships on Resonance’s Impact Advisory Services team is responsible for guiding philanthropic impact: developing a new business pipeline and strengthening relationships with foundations, multi-lateral organizations, and international NGOs. In this role, the Senior Manager will use their network of key contacts to identify leads, cultivate new opportunities, source proposals, oversee proposal development, and win new contracts to support our collective objectives to deliver social and economic good. They will cultivate and deepen relationships with foundation leaders, multilateral institutions, and international NGOs to establish new clients in Resonance’s Impact Advisory Services portfolio, which spans natural resources management, agriculture, global health, and technology. This role will build and lead a business development strategy for Resonance’s philanthropic portfolio to further our clients’ missions. This role will also manage proposal development for this client base, collaborating with staff around the company to respond to requests for proposals.

This position can be based in Seattle, WA, Washington, DC, or Burlington, VT, or remote, and will report to the Vice President, Impact Advisory Services.

Outcomes/Essential Functions:

Business Development Strategy

· Identify opportunities to address prospective foundation client challenges with Resonance service offerings

· Build a business development pipeline that yields continued growth in new client relationships within targeted foundations, multilateral organizations, and international NGOs

· Develop an outreach strategy establishing a clear articulation of Resonance’s value proposition and tailor it to individual client segments

· Leverage existing personal, team, and company contacts to build and develop relationships with new clients

· Manage deployment of key technical experts from across the firm to assist on proposals

· Partner with the Marketing team to fully utilize Resonance’s CRM to manage and extend client relationships

· Leverage Resonance’s presence within key industry groups to build relationships with new clients

Proposal Development

· Working with the VP, other Impact Advisory Services staff, and the Marketing Team, source and develop proposals to new foundations and NGOs

· Utilize key technical contacts from across the firm to assist on client proposals and budgets

· Develop proposal budgets, maintaining gross and net margin targets

· Work closely with directors across the company to ensure proposals accurately reflect resourcing availability and needs and that won work smoothly transitions into execution

Marketing, Thought Leadership

· Work with Resonance’s marketing team to refine our positioning with prospective foundation and NGO clients

· Draft blog posts, case studies, social media content, and articles that demonstrate and advance Resonance’s leadership in areas such as partnerships, private sector development, and corporate sustainability targeted to foundation and NGO audiences

· Develop and refine a set of services and tools that can be easily replicated for new proposals

Additional Activities

· Serve as strategic or technical counsel on Impact Advisory Services and Government Services projects as time allows and when needs align

· Support Resonance’s internal knowledge management initiatives through document retention systems

· Recommend ways to improve norms and processes within Resonance and the Corporate Sustainability Services practice as we scale

· Other duties as assigned



· Masters’ degree in business administration, sustainable business, or related field

· 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in business development, management consulting, corporate sustainability, or international development, with a track record of winning foundation contracts for a consultancy

· Strong networks with large foundations and across key industry segments

· Experience working in emerging markets on complex global development issues

· Understanding of international development, and the role of various actors including donors, development finance institutions, companies, NGOs, foundations, and impact investors

· Eligibility to work in US


· Experience working with major foundations, international NGOs, USAID or another bilateral donors, or multilateral organizations

· Familiarity with the role of cross-cutting industry initiatives

· Experience living, working, or traveling in emerging markets

· Fluency in a second language (Spanish, French, or Arabic preferred)
