Manage and support public positioning in key policy dialogues in order to strengthen Gavi’s visibility in achieving our mission to save children’s lives.

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership committed to saving children’s lives and protecting people’s health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries. KEY FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

  • Manage identified relationships and outreach with key advocacy partners;
  • Develop and manage external events and participation at key policy dialogues;
  • Provide quality support and advice to management for engaging in global, regional and national advocacy fora;
  • Identification of strategic opportunities and challenges for Gavi in the global public policy domain.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and support public positioning in key policy dialogues including the UN General Assembly, the World Health Assembly as well as other Global, Regional and National advocacy platforms as identified by the annual strategic engagement plan for the Public Policy Engagement Team;
  • Build and maintain constructive, informative and mutually beneficial working relationships with Gavi’s advocacy, alliance partners and key stakeholders;
  • Lead internal communication efforts for the team including: regular reporting, developing presentations and information management;
  • Develop and maintain advocacy systems including calendars and contact management;
  • Develop advocacy materials including statements and position papers framed in political and policy language salient to relevant decision makers and dialogues;
  • Build and mobilise advocacy capacity to deliver on priorities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic:

  • Advanced degree in relevant discipline such as international relations, public health, governance, development or disciplines related to the key duties of the role.

Work experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in the following areas:
    • External relations;
    • Strategic engagement in global policy dialogues;
    • High level event organisation;
    • Managing engagement in multilateral policy dialogues.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent logistics, organisational and planning skills;
  • Excellent external relations and public relations skills;
  • Proven ability to deliver results and manage multiple deadlines;
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, written and verbal, with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent ability to develop and work with systems to manage projects, events and contacts;
  • Understanding and ability to engage with interlocutors from diverse countries to executive level;
  • Understanding of immunisation, health, equity or sustainable development policy areas is highly preferred;
  • Sound judgement, problem solving, adaptive management;
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work across cultures with the capacity to build excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Languages:

  • High professional fluency in written English;
  • French highly desirable;
  • Other UN languages is an advantage.
