HLSP is looking for a Senior Public Health Consultant to join our DFID funded SARRAH programme to support South Africa’s response to HIV/AIDS through its Multi-sectoral Support Programme. Ultimately, the goal of the programme is to reduce the number of new HIV infections and mitigate the impact of this disease in South Africa. Further details can be found at www.sarrahsouthafrica.org
Based in Pretoria, the Senior Public Health Consultant will lead and develop a technical work stream within the programme, interfacing directly with the DFID Senior Health Advisor and appropriate senior technical officials in the MOH/NDOH.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a Bachelor level degree, Advanced degree in medicine and/or public health. 5 years experience working in a senior technical capacity with South African government and/or civil society sectors, preferably in the health sector; 3 years experience working in a donor funded environment preferably in the health sector; Demonstrated track record of successful results-based project planning and management in the health sector, preferably in health systems strengthening and/or institution building. Ideally this individual will have indepth knowledge of the South African public health care delivery system; up to date understanding of current health sector reform initiatives, including National Health Insurance and Primary Health Care Re-Engineering; understanding of best practice relating to institutional good governance and accountability; and knowledge of the private health care sector.
