Global Communities is seeking a Senior Specialist, Savings Groups & Women’s Empowerment to join the team. This position may be based in downtown Silver Spring or San Diego, California. Will consider full-time remote.
Responsibility Area: Technical Assistance
- Provides technical assistance on savings groups and women’s economic advancement, contributing to the development and implementation of specific strategies and plans in the following technical areas:
- Savings group programming
- Women’s livelihoods strengthening and entrepreneurship
- Constructive male engagement for women’s economic empowerment
- Women’s financial capability, including women’s digital financial capability
- Provides technical assistance to regional teams through regular check ins; delivery of trainings; review of project plans; and analysis of program data and reports
- Continually improves the methodology, manuals and training materials based on best practices and lessons learned during project implementation
- In coordination with country team management, identifies capacity strengthening needs and provide mentoring and training for technical staff
- Leads the development of new license agreements with implementing partners
- Supports program teams to monitor progress in annual work plans and results related to savings groups and assists in preparation and adaptation of technical program materials
- Provides technical assistance for new initiatives including desk research to inform decision making and direction setting
- Provides technical assistance to project teams in maintaining effective management information systems for program activities
- Leads processes for recruitment and management of consultants to support project activities
- Fosters organizational learning through workshops, creation of tool kits, project documentation, etc.
- Leads in the development of regional training and supports development of training on diverse topics relevant to women’s economic empowerment
- Represents Global Communities and Women Empowered to donors, other technical leaders, and external networks
Responsibility Area: Reporting, Learning and Communications
- Provides content and writes technical briefs, blog posts and other communications materials that raise the visibility of Global Communities in the area of women’s empowerment and savings groups programming
- Drafts, reviews and edits technical content for completion of donor reports
- Leads collection and review of global data and program updates for use in internal and external reporting, working with relevant teams to ensure accurate and timely group level data is available
- Provides technical assistance to regional project staff to identify and optimize the use of WE program data for decision-making and program improvement. and to integrate best practices, lessons learned and research
- Contributes to the design and implementation of assessments and studies to inform WE programmatic decision-making, project designs and institutional learning
- In coordination with M&E leads, provides ongoing support to in-country activities, including the review of the M&E plans, studies, surveys, assessments, and evaluations
- Produces high quality case studies, success stories, best practices and lessons learned that are supported with an evidence-base, beneficiary testimonials, impact/comparative data and other relevant information
- Supports the development, validation, field testing and implementation of Global Communities’ evaluation and impact measurement tools
Responsibility Area: Business Development and Resource Mobilization
- Contributes to new business development and the expansion of programming through partnership identification, networking, presenting at relevant conferences or meetings with stakeholders, proposal development, and other activities
- Conducts desk & field research necessary for new opportunities & proposal development
- Develops narratives in proposal preparation and contributes technical content to project components/activities, monitoring and evaluation plans, and components of implementation plans
