Palladium is a global leader in the design, development and delivery of Positive Impact - the intentional creation of enduring social and economic value. We work with foundations, investors, governments, corporations, communities and civil society to formulate strategies and implement solutions that generate lasting social, environmental and financial benefits.
For the past 50 years, we have been making Positive Impact possible. With a team of more than 2,500 employees operating in 90 plus countries and a global network of more than 35,000 technical experts, Palladium has improved - and is committed to continuing to improve - economies, societies and most importantly, people’s lives.
Palladium is a child-safe organisation, and screens applicants for suitability to work with children. We also provide equal employment to all participants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, veteran or marital status. The Pacific Labour Scheme and the Seasonal Worker Programme are two employment programs sponsored by the Australian government, which allow citizens of Pacific Countries to take up low and semi-skilled work opportunities with Australian employers in certain locations and industries.
Under Australian legislation, Australian employers are required to make compulsory superannuation payments on behalf of their eligible employees. This is applicable for workers under both labour initiatives. Once the worker has returned to their country of origin and their visa has expired or been cancelled the workers under these labour programs are eligible to claim their superannuation as a Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP). It is estimated an average of only 61 per cent of seasonal workers are accessing their superannuation upon return. This rate varies significantly country to country. It is too early to have estimates on superannuation access for PLS workers. We are seeking a suitably qualified Superannuation Consultant on a Short Term Adviser basis to conduct a review and author a report the purpose of which is to provide DFAT with an accurate understanding of how many SWP and PLS workers are not claiming their superannuation, and provide recommendations - short, medium and long-term - to improve the superannuation claim rates for SWP and PLS workers. The ideal candidate will have:
- Over ten years’ experience working on superannuation related issues
- Familiarity with Australian Government processes
- History of engagement with the Australian Taxation Office and/or Department of Treasury
- Ability to understand the Pacific context
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and writing skills
