Job Description

PwC is looking for a Team Leader to head FCO’s China Rule of Law for Business programme

About the role

The Rule of Law for Business Programme is a major three-year programme financed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Its objective is to improve commercial dispute resolution, strengthen intellectual property protection, increase certainty for foreign investors, stem illicit capital flows and money laundering, and improve product standards. It aims to do this by reforms to the regulation, administration and judicial oversight in these areas, by building the capacity of Chinese counterpart institutions, and promoting UK-China knowledge transfer.

We’re looking for a high quality team leader candidate who shares our values and is interested in collaborating with the PwC network as we prepare to bid for delivery of the programme.

The Team Leader will report to the PwC leadership senior management and head up a team of programme managers, technical consultants and subject matter experts to deliver the outputs and objectives of ROLB, and play a key role in managing the relationship with the FCO and Chinese stakeholders.

Our requirements

We are looking for candidates who have the following:

  • An understanding of the Chinese legal system, business environment and Chinese political economy.
  • Advanced or native fluency in Mandarin
  • Academic qualifications in subjects such as law, business environment improvement, public policy or economic development.

Above all we need a candidate who is able to lead, build and sustain relationships and who has the authority and credibility to influence decision-making in this field. You must be able to develop strong relationships with senior level clients, programme stakeholders and businesses investing in China.

The package

We offer short term consultancy contracts at competitive rates, with the possibility to extend based on performance. You will be based in Beijing, undertaking provincial travel according to programme priorities. Your accommodation and international travel will be included as part of this package, and we will agree an appropriate rotation pattern for candidates not based in China.

How to apply

If you think you can rise to this challenge, please submit a CV (maximum two pages) and a short covering note explaining why you are right for this role, and specifying your areas of expertise. Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
