- Key Health leadership position to contribute to improving the Health sector in Fiji

The Australian Government has established the Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) to support and implement Australia’s aid programs in sectors including health, education, Australia Awards and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards and education programs in Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability inclusion, climate change, emergency preparedness and response and civil society engagement, across sectoral programs.
Support to Fiji’s health sector between the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MoHMS) is a key component of the Facility. The focus of the support is in health systems strengthening, in particular financial planning, policy development and services management as well as in public health, seeking to address non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and universal health coverage.
The company managing the Facility on behalf of the Australian Government, Coffey, is currently seeking applications for the position of Team Leader Health to lead this new phase of support to the health sector.
The Health Team Leader’s role is to provide strategic direction and coordinate of the Facility’s Health Program and the associated team (also known as Australia’s Support to Fiji’s Health Sector). Close collaboration with the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) and Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is central to the success of this position. The role involves active and ongoing strategic engagement with both DFAT and the MHMS on the Health Program’s key priorities and activities on a daily basis. As such relationship management is a very important.
The Team Leader has overall responsibility for program implementation, management of budgets and monitoring of impact either directly or through the health team. The incumbent also has a senior management role within the he Facility as part of the Management Group.
The ideal candidate for this senior management position will have substantial leadership experience in planning, policy and program management of institutional strengthening initiatives, preferably in the health sector, with experience of working in the Pacific though other developing country contexts considered. We seek an outstanding individual with excellent relationship management skills and broad experience of high level coordination between national government agencies and donors.
