Job Description

GIZ International Services is currently preparing for an EU-funded project: Make it in The Gambia.

The overall objective of the project Make it in The Gambia is to contribute to socio-economic development and to nurture positive prospects for local populations and returning migrants in the Gambia.

Your tasks

The Team Leader (m/f/d) will be the main interface between GIZ International Services and the European Commission for all matters related to this contract/project and will be responsible for the overall project implementation and coordination, and will guarantee the overall quality control of the output.

Your profile

Qualifications and skills

The key expert (m/f/d) should have a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, Management, Psychology, Political sciences, or other field relevant to the key activities under this contract or equivalent and professional experience of at least twelve (12) years.

General professional experience

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in projects that support local economic development and/ or the integration of returning migrants and refugees by promoting economic development and fostering employment relevant skills including support of training institutions and local governments and municipalities through capacity building.
  • Minimum Requirement: At least 5 year’s post-qualification experience performing the role ofTechnical Assistance Team Leader, managing a team composed of technical specialists (shortterm and long term).

Specific professional experience

  • Experience in implementing, coordinating, monitoring or evaluating programmes/projects related to local economic development, TVET, and reintegration.
  • Proven experience and expertise in the implementation of educational/social programmes with specific focus on local youth and returning refugees, working with government and private sector institutions.
  • Proven experience in managing or coordinating donor funded programmes/projects.
  • Experience in the implementation of EU funded projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with good command of both spoken and written English.
  • Experience with communication and campaigning that accompany technical assistance projects will be an advantage.
  • Computer literate with coherent writing skills Professional experience in Sub-Sahara is considered an advantage.

Location information

The intended start date is 1st September 2018 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 36 months from this date.

Banjul will be the operational base for the technical assistance. A sub-office might be established in the Upper River Region. Experts will be required to travel across the country as and if the need arises.
