Palladium is seeking a Team Leader for an upcoming DFID programme to support greater transparency and accountability in Malawi. The programme will take an issue-based approach, seeking to foster coalitions of actors (civil society, private sector and government) to address reforms that will improve economic growth and service delivery. The project is expected to run for 5 years, with work estimated to start in early 2019.

The TL will be a senior professional with a proven track record in providing strategic and leadership direction to lead and manage a team of full time staff in Malawi, as well as short term advisory support. This will involve managing staff and donor relations, and providing strategic programme guidance.

Specific responsibilities will include:
* Providing strategic direction for the programme, adapting as required based on M&E info and contextual analysis
* Performance management of staff
* Ensure the programme is on track to meet log frame milestones, as well as payment milestones and KPIs
* Manage the inputs of short term technical assistance as required
* Liaise with DFID on a regular basis to ensure effective communication

Requirements
* Proven project management and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and manage multi-disciplinary professional teams in complex programmes;
* Technical knowledge of innovative governance approaches including: familiarity with politically smart approaches to governance, adaptive programming approaches in dynamic and evolving contexts, and experience using the findings of political economy analysis in programming
* Capacity, influence and personal integrity to convene stakeholders and shape policy implementation
* Very strong interpersonal skills, proficient in client and government relationship management; and with experience working with key stakeholders from the private and public sectors
* Proven analytical and planning skills and ability to think critically and strategically;
* High level of personal integrity and commitment to accountability;
* Experience working in Malawi and/or East/Southern Africa would be an asset
* Excellent written English
* Prior experience of working with international development agencies, such as DFID, USAID or World Bank will be a strong advantage.
