The Technical Director, Economic Growth and Governance will be responsible for management, business development, and technical consulting. Specifically, the position will entail management and technical oversight of donor- or private client-funded projects as well as leading business development efforts across the International Development Division, including the expansion of business into new geographies and clients. The Technical Director will be a recognized leader in the field of Agriculture and Market Systems both within Cardno and with clients.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Technical Director, Economic Growth and Governance will be responsible for management, business development, and technical consulting. Specifically, the position will entail management and technical oversight of donor- or private client-funded projects as well as leading business development efforts across the International Development Division, including the expansion of business into new geographies and clients. The Technical Director will be a recognized leader in the field of Agriculture and Market Systems both within Cardno and with clients.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION

Required: Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, International Relations, or related field required. (Technical fields, e.g. Engineering, Law, Environmental Studies, etc.)

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPEREINCE

Required: A minimum of 12 years of related experience Preferred: 15 years of progressively responsible experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Proven experience working with USAID and other international donors.

• Excellent conceptual and analytical skills.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proven technical and/or proposal writing skills required.

• Proficiency in the English language required. Proficiency in another language spoken in developing country context desirable.

• Experience in developing Theories of Change (TOC) and design of projects based on the TOCs, desired.

• Experience living and working in a foreign or developing country.
