Job Description

Chemonics seeks experienced professionals for the anticipated USAID Country Health Information Systems and Data Use (CHISU) project to strengthen community health information systems (HIS) in low- and middle-income countries. The global project will aim to strengthen country capacity and leadership to manage and use HIS for increased evidence-based health decisions and ultimately improved health outcomes. We are seeking mid- and senior-level specialists (short-term and long-term) in the fields listed below. Please note that all positions are subject to project award. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Specialist fields include:

  • Health information systems (HIS)
  • Information technology
  • Public health
  • Health informatics
  • Data science, analysis, and management
  • IT governance
  • Enterprise architecture
  • Health systems strengthening
  • Software development
  • Regional, district, and community engagement
  • Institutional strengthening and capacity building
  • Data use for decision-making


  • Degree in health informatics, public health, computer science, or a related discipline required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience working on donor-funded health informatics programs and/or other data science-related programs
  • Proven experience in introduction, implementation, and scaling of digital health solutions, particularly in low-income situations and/or developing countries, highly desirable
  • Subject matter expertise in capacity building, knowledge management, and data use
  • Experience working collaboratively with foreign governments, international donors, and local organizations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English is required for all positions
