Job Description

Global Communities is seeking 3-4 qualified translators (Spanish to English/English to Spanish) for a 12-month, as-needed consultancy to be completed remotely.

The consultant will primarily support by translating reports and other key documents from Spanish to English and/or English to Spanish as needed for various international development programs, funded by private and government donors such as the US Agency for International Development and the US Department of Agriculture. Live interpretation (simultaneous or consecutive) may also be requested to be conducted either in person or via video calls (on platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams). Consultants are expected to identify any clarity or construction issues in the original document and provide potential solutions to achieve a high-quality final document in the target language. Interested candidates will be asked to provide a per-word translation rate and a per-hour rate for interpretations.

Scope of Work

This consultancy aims to provide high-quality translation and interpretation services to Global Communities (Spanish to English and English to Spanish) in response to specific requests made by the organization. These may include but not be limited to:

• Translation of an Annual, Semi-Annual, or Quarterly Reports for a specific program from Spanish to English or English to Spanish
• Translation of a Baseline, Midterm, or Endline evaluation report for a specific program from Spanish to English or English to Spanish
• Translation of other products such as Learning Briefs, Study Reports, or Success Stories from Spanish to English or English to Spanish.
• Live interpretation from Spanish to English and English to Spanish on video calls.

Deliverables

• As requested, fully translated reports, evaluations, or other products, ensuring language clarity and appropriate sentence construction in the target language.
• As requested, interpretation services (Spanish-English and English-Spanish) provided during video calls or in-person meetings.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English, written and oral.
• Fluency in Spanish, written and oral.
• Strong writing skills in the target language.
• Accuracy, attention to detail.
• 2 years of relevant, professional translation experience.
• Familiarity with international development organizations and project reports is a must.
