The Asian Development Bank gave USD600,000 to finance Pakistan’s Sustainable Energy Efficiency Development Program. The country’s growing energy needs prompted the lender and the government to create a strong and long-term investment and policy program, as sustained economic growth has outpaced the capacity of Pakistan to supply the energy needs of a wealthier population. “Improved energy efficiency brings substantial benefits to the Pakistan economy,” remarked ADB specialist Bayanjargal Byambasaikhan. “It is important to establish an effective energy efficiency policy and the right business environment for the sector.” The initiative aims to promote energy awareness, survey market energy demands, and create a long-term energy efficiency approach.
