ADB Lends USD165 million to Bangladesh Energy Schemes

The Asian Development Bank set up a USD165 million credit facility to boost private sector infrastructure investments in Bangladesh. The facility is expected to mobilize up to USD600 million of private sector funding to back 15-20 projects, mostly in energy. Of the amount, USD82 million will fund large infrastructure projects requiring more than USD30 million each. The rest will back small and medium-sized energy projects and renewable energy initiatives. (“Bangladesh gets USD165 mln ADB loan for energy plans” - Thomson Reuters, Oct. 5, 2008)
