ADB to Fund Bridge Project in Bangladesh

The Asian Development Bank plans to provide additional investments to the ongoing US$25 million technical assistance loan for the Padma Bridge engineering design.

ADB together with the World Bank will also allocate funds for bridge construction. An ADB representative told Devex Early Intelligence that the Japan International Cooperation Agency may also participate. This will be determined in about two months time after the three agencies conduct a joint review of the first inception report. The specific donor contributions will also be defined after the review.

Other ADB projects in the pipeline for Bangladesh include an urban health care initiative, water sector support for the Bangladesh Water Development Board and water management organizations, and water resource development.
