AfDB Mulling Support for Zambia-Angola Rail Project

The African Development Bank will consider financing a railway project that aims to link Zambia with the Port of Lobito in Angola.

The railway line will help foster regional and international trade, the Times of Zambia reports.

Zambia’s Finance and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said his country is keen on developing a railway line that will link it to the Benguela rail system that leads to the Port of Lobito in Angola on the Atlantic Ocean.

Zambia is also seeking AfDB’s support for the construction of the Itezi-Tezhi hydropower plant and Mpulungu habor, according to Musokotwane.
